Due to the current sanitary situation in Europe and for the protection, health and safety of our community, the European Summer School is cancelled. We could not guarantee face to face the organization and the conduct of experimental works.
Radiation Measurements and Radiochemistry in Environment and Decommissioning
The European Summer School of the University of Strasbourg is a prestigious one-week meeting of Post-doc, PhD students and Master students from all over Europe. They present their research projects and attend lectures on some of the most recent topics in physics presented by internationally known scientists.
The 2022 edition of the school is organized by the Faculty of Physics and Engineering of the University of Strasbourg together with the Institute for Nuclear Waste Disposal (INE) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.Scientific Program
The main topics of the Summer School are radio-chemistry, the challenge of measuring low radioactive radiation, new instrumental techniques and measuring procedures for dosimetry and handling of radioactive materials. All these topics have their place in the centre of the research activities of the two participating universities.
Besides the fundamental aspects of these subjects a good part of the program will cover experimental methods and numerical simulation programs. Some practical workshops assuring the active participation of the participants will complement the lectures.
The school is also meant as an introduction for younger scientists to the conference taking place in Strasbourg the following week:
10th International Conference on High Level Environmental Radiation Areas" (IC-HLERA 2022) 27th - 30th June, 2022.
The school is open to young Post-docs, PhD students and students at the Master level in physics.
All lectures will take place at the
Auditorium Weiss
1st floor at the Faculty of Physics and Engineering
3 rue de l'université,
Strasbourg
Validation of the Summer School
An attestation for the successful participation at the summer campus will be established on the basis of the Poster presented and the active involvement in the workshops and discussions during the lectures. The attestation may help to validate ECTS points at the home university. We suggest that home universities recognize the successful participation with up to 3 credit points (ECTS). Due to the short (1 week) duration of the school it is not possible to organize a formal exam at the end.
Housing and Transportation
Accommodation for students will be provided free of charge. The transportation is in the responsibility of the participants.
Participating Institutions
The School is funded by the French Excellence Initiative (IdEx) and the Université franco-allemande (ufa). This support underlines the collaboration between the Universities and Research Institutions in the region of the Upper Rhine Region. Besides the scientific programme the participants will have the opportunity to explore the cultural and political heritage of the region of Alsace and Strasbourg, where the European Parliament and the Council of Europe are located.
