Poster - European Summer CampusThe European Summer Campus of the University of Strasbourg is a prestigious one-week meeting of students from all over Europe. They present their research projects and attend lectures on some of the most recent topics in physics presented by internationally known scientists.

The Summer Campus 2014 is a European Summer School and a French-German research workshop on the Physics of the Higgs Boson discovered at the LHC (CERN, Geneva) and is organized by the Physics Department of the University and the Institut Pluridisciplinaire Hubert Curien (IPHC) in collaboration with the Institut für Experimentelle Kernphysik (IEKP) of the KIT-KCETA in Karlsruhe.

Now open for applications until June 1st, 2010

Motivation for students and young researchers

The idea of the European Summer Campus is to offer enthusiastic and pedagogical introduction to the most recent research subjects. The scientific programme of 2014 in the format of a Summer School is being built out of lectures of 2 x 45 minutes each which span over several days and some Workshops, where students can present their research projects and work in small groups under the guidance of a senior researcher. This is complemented by visits to laboratories, a round table discussion on future accelerators and a poster session prepared and entertained by the participants.

The lectures are appropriate for students in physics having successfully completed at least four years of university studies (typically after the first year of the Master).

The lectures will start on Monday morning, the 7th of July and will end on Saturday noon, the 12th of July.

Participating Institutions

The School is funded by the French Excellence Initiative (IdEx), the université franco-allemande (ufa) and the Region of Alsace. This support underlines the collaboration between the Universities and Research Institutions in the region of the Upper Rhine Region. Besides the scientific programme the participants will have the opportunity to explore the cultural and political heritage of the region of Alsace and Strasbourg, where the European Parliament and the Council of Europe are located.
